Our Programs
Programs
Our programs are specifically designed to achieve individual aspirations in ballet training through a focus on the clarity of technique, increased strength and greater musicality.

CLASSICAL BALLET
Our Classical Ballet classes form the foundation of all training at Stepanova Ballet Academy. Students learn correct technique, posture, coordination, and musicality through structured barre and center work. Taught by professional instructors, this program emphasizes discipline, grace, and progressive skill development. Classes are offered by level and age, from beginner to pre-professional, and run throughout the school year at our Thornhill studio. Placement is based on experience.

PRE BALLET
Pre-Ballet introduces children ages 4–6 to the basics of movement, rhythm, and ballet vocabulary in a fun, supportive environment. Classes focus on coordination, creativity, and confidence while building a love for dance. No prior experience is needed—just ballet slippers and comfortable attire. Classes are held weekly in Thornhill and are the ideal first step for young dancers before entering our formal Classical Ballet program.

professional program
Our Professional Program is designed for advanced dancers seeking a career in ballet or further post-secondary training. With a focus on technical excellence, artistic development, and performance readiness, students train intensively in ballet, pointe, repertoire, character, and contemporary styles. Dancers are expected to maintain a high level of commitment, discipline, and professionalism.

Summer Intensive
Our Summer Intensive is a focused training program for dedicated dancers ages 10 and up who want to advance their technique during the summer break. Held at our Thornhill studio, the program includes daily classes in ballet, pointe, repertoire, character, and contemporary, taught by professional faculty and guest artists. Dancers build strength, artistry, and performance skills in a structured and inspiring environment. The intensive runs in weekly sessions throughout July. Prior ballet experience is required. Space is limited and early registration is recommended.

Adult ballet classes
Our Adult Ballet Program welcomes dancers of all experience levels, from complete beginners to those returning after time away. These weekly classes offer a supportive and encouraging environment to explore the fundamentals of classical ballet while building strength, flexibility, and coordination.
Whether you're looking for a graceful way to stay active or want to reconnect with your love of dance, this program provides both a mental and physical workout. Classes take place at our Thornhill studio and are open to ages 16 and up

Lyrical / Jazz / Contemporary
These classes offer a dynamic extension to classical ballet training and are an important part of a well-rounded dance education. Students explore different styles of movement, musicality, and expression while improving versatility and performance quality. Contemporary focuses on fluidity and grounded movement, jazz brings energy and rhythm, and lyrical blends ballet technique with emotional storytelling.
Open to dancers ages 10 and up, these classes are a valuable addition for those enrolled in our core ballet programs. Classes are held weekly at our Thornhill studio. Prior dance experience is recommended.

character
Character dance is an essential part of classical ballet training, introducing students to stylized folk dances adapted for the stage. This class is included in our Classical Ballet Program for intermediate and advanced levels, helping dancers develop musicality, performance range, and an understanding of cultural dance forms. Proper character shoes are required. Taught weekly in Thornhill, this class supports students preparing for full-length classical roles.
